Traditional Chinese culture is full of traditional healing methods used for centuries. They’ve also become very popular in the west. More and more people, from all over the world, not just from China, are becoming interested in herbal medicine, dietary therapies, meditation, massage, tai chi, etc. A specific interest has been expressed in acupressure- a therapy which provides relaxation and relief for the body and mind.
How does acupressure work?
Acupressure is the application of pressure onto specific areas of the body. It’s quite similar to acupuncture, but without the needles. In the west, medicine is mostly based of pharmaceutical drugs and scientific research, unlike in the east. Hence, Eastern cultures are focused on mental, spiritual, and physical health and on the nature of people.
When a certain area of the body is pressed, the inner energy or chi, is stimulated and helps in the alleviation of stress and anxiety. Also, it restores the inner balance. Acupressure is highly recommendable for different types of body pain, muscular tension, poor circulation, etc. The amazing thing about this technique is that you can do it at the comfort of your own home.
The method that you’re about to see below is a technique for relief of headaches and reduction of stress levels.
First, with your thumb, pressure the area between your eyebrows and hold the pressure for 45 seconds.
Next, press a bit harder while pushing upward to the midpoint of the forehead and do this for 60 seconds.
Then, inhale deeply and relax completely.
Afterwards, put your finger between the eyebrows, now at the nose’s slope.
In the same time, pressure the middle of the sternum, between the pectorals.
