How to Supercharge Your Dopamine Levels Naturally and Never Feel Depressed or Anxious Again

The main chemical of the brain is dopamine. This neurotransmitter is responsible for many mental and physical processes. In fact, if you know how to stimulate the dopamine levels naturally, you will be able to overcome depression, anxiety, apathy, and fear, while at the same time you will boost feelings of pleasure.

Dopamine usually rewards some behaviors in us so we want to do them again. This is why some drugs are very addictive. For instance, cocaine, heroin, and other opiates can cause a reward of dopamine and this is why we like to try them again. Well, that is until you get a crash when the drug is absent from the physiology.

Opiates usually bind to the opiate receptors in the brain and these increase the release of dopamine. However, when this is gone, then there comes the need for more drugs to have the same high. This is why drug addicts usually would do anything to get their fix.

Studies on Dopamine

For instance, there have been some experiments done on mice and it was realized that when the same nerve bundle that usually causes an opiate release was stimulated when pressed a lever, the mice would press the lever thousands of times in an hour. This was all because of increased levels of dopamine. Then, after another experiment on human beings, they came to the similar conclusion. The person, after 3 hours, would press a button which triggered a dopamine dump thousands of times just to get an emotional boost.

What we get is some dumps in the brain with less destructive behaviors, like making money, having sex, and winning a video game. However, there are boosting activities that can actually boost the levels without addiction.

There are dopamine neurons in the brain that are smaller than other neurons and they form less than 0.0006% of the neurons in the brain. However, we can stimulate the nerve bundle that links the dopamine neurons with the targets in the forebrain.

This chemical is also responsible for regulating the muscle movement, improving cognitive function, keeping us focused, it helps us make decisions, evaluate problems and solve them, plus secreting prolactin among many things.

It is obvious that dopamine is very important for our well-being and happiness. Without high levels of it, we will experience depression, sadness, confusion, fear, negative thinking, rumination, and other emotional obstacles.

Natural Ways to Increase the Dopamine Levels

1. Exercise

Some exercise will help you elevate the dopamine D2 receptors in the brain. Moreover, it will increase the serotonin and other endorphins in the body too. Also, it can prevent depression, reduce stress and strengthen the mind and the body.

2. Make a list and Cross Off the Things You Accomplish

Whenever we finish a task successfully, our brain usually gets filled with this chemical. If you want to get more hits of it, then you need to break your bigger tasks into smaller ones and check them off. This habit can help you with your goals and it will clear the mental clutter. The Principles of Self-Management claim that one task is 25% of a bigger change in your routine, so, you often end up not finishing it. However, if you make small changes of 10% then you will go in the right direction.

3. Eat Dopamine-Increasing Foods

Tyrosine is the precursor for dopamine. So, if you consume foods that have it, you can boost the dopamine levels naturally. You can find it in:

  • Eggs
  • Green tea
  • Milk
  • Watermelon
  • Coffee
  • Almonds
  • Bananas
  • Dark Chocolate
  • Yogurt

4. Reduce Your Lipopolysaccharides

This one is an endotoxin will make the immune system go crazy.Lipopolysaccharides also inhibit the production of dopamine.  So, if you eat foods that protect the gut, like yogurt, kefir, kimchi, and if you take probiotics, you can lower the lipopolysaccharides and create the chemical easily.

5. Detox

While we are talking about toxins, you need to know that you need to detox regularly. If toxins accumulate in your body, this will prevent the production of this chemical. You can detox in many different ways, from green juicing, taking activated charcoal, doing a yogic master cleanse. Thus, the less toxic you are, the more your dopamine levels can increase.

6. Listen to Uplifting Music

The easiest and fastest way to get a dopamine hit in the brain is from listening to music. Music creates moments that make our brain sing. It has helped people get uplifted for a long time now.

7. Get Creative

It does not matter if you do crafts and arts or write a piece of music, everything creative will boost the dopamine levels. Therefore, dance, take a drawing class, write a poem or just cook something, the chemical’s levels will be boosted.

8. Start a Postive Streak

If you do this, it will increase the dopamine levels and create positive habits. Thus, try to do as many new things as you possibly can and see if you can make a winning streak last.

9. Supplement

You can also raise the levels with supplementation, for instance:

  • L-theanine can increase many neurotransmitters in the brain like dopamine. One of the natural sources of it is green tea.
  • The curcumin in the turmeric can also increase this chemical in the brain.
  • Ginkgo Biloba can also raise the levels.
  • A healthy dose of acetyl-l-tyrosine can support the production of the chemical in the brain.

10. Meditation and Yoga

Meditation and yoga can also help with increasing of dopamine levels. This is why people who meditate can handle stress more easily and this is due to an increase in GABA and this chemical. Moreover, meditation will also release us from conditioned neural pathways which are blocking the release of dopamine and other feel-good neurotransmitters.

Psychologists Explain How to Stay Calm In An Argument

As we all know, conflict is something we experience almost every day in our lives. Even of you are the calmest and the coolest as well as most collected person in this world, you will still experience some inner trouble at some pint in your life. We find that most people can’t control their emotions when facing conflict. We are here to help and give you ideas how to control yourself:

1. TAKE DEEP BREATHS

Why:  Being able to stay calm, relaxed and well balanced during an argument or a conflict depends on the ability to relax your body. Slow and shallow breathing is your body’s response when confronted with arguments, conflicts or stress. Stopping this natural and evolutionary response will help your body to remain calm. Breathe and inhale deeply.
How: Deeply inhale through the nose before slowly exhaling through the mouth. Smooth, deep breaths will cease the production of two stress hormones – adrenaline and cortisol.

2. CONCENTRATE ON YOUR BODY

Why: When you concentrate on physical sensations that arise during a conflict it permits you to mindfully change these physical sensations. When your focus switches to the body, you can feel the tension, shallow breathing, etc. that accompanies stress.
How: When you notice your body beginning to tense, return your posture to a neutral state by relaxing your shoulders and hands. This open position communicates positivity using body language – and often diffuses conflict.

3. ACTIVELY LISTEN

Why: A person will initiate an argument, or some other kind of conflict, if they feel they’re not being heard. Furthermore, it’s impossible to diffuse a conflict without attentive and active listening.
How: When someone is talking, focus all of your attention on what the person says. Ignore any thoughts of constructing a response. Once the person finishes speaking, you have the necessary information to respond intelligently.

4. ASK OPEN-ENDED QUESTIONS

Why: Open-ended questions are invaluable in conflict resolution. First, open-ended questions demonstrate that you are attentively listening. Second, these type of questions show respect for the person by allowing them to articulate their thoughts.

How: Learning to ask open-ended questions can be a bit tricky for some people. The easiest way to avoid asking “Yes” or “No” questions is not to use the words “Do,” “Don’t,” “Did,” and “Didn’t” when asking a question. Instead, use the words “What,” “Why,” “When,” and “How.” Try it now. Notice the difference?

5. KEEP YOUR VOICE DOWN

Why: The easiest way to escalate conflict is raising your voice. On the flip side, one of the easiest ways to diffuse conflict is lowering your voice. Voice level is also linked to blood pressure. When BP reaches a certain point, it becomes more difficult to understand what’s being communicated.

How: The first step is to diffuse the initial anger of the other person. You can’t do this by raising your voice. On the other hand, you can quickly impart a sense of calm by making the conscious decision to lower your voice.

6. AGREE TO DISAGREE

Why: Not every conflict will produce amicable or mutually agreeable results. However, you can avoid deepening the conflict by politely disengaging from the conversation.

How: One law of interpersonal conflict is that it takes two participants. Separating yourself from an argument is appropriate under one of two circumstances: (1) the person becomes increasingly hostile, or (2) the conversation, despite your best efforts, is not going anywhere.

We hope you enjoyed this article and know that unless you happen to know exactly all the time what is happening inside you and you are self aware at all times, you will be angry at some point. All human beings are emotional. The ability to feel can be used to help us or it can defeat us. It can be to our advantage of be detrimental to our well being. Also, remember to forgive yourself whenever you do act in a way that you are not proud of. There will always be a time when we all act in a manner that is not our proudest moment.

By following one or more of the six tips given, you will assuredly feel more confident in any conflict. As a result, you’ll use your emotions and self-regulation to your benefit. Doing so, you will gain the trust and confidence of people in your good and even temperament.

Place a Clothespin on Your Ear For 20 Seconds. The Results Will Surprise You

The famous reflexologist Helen Chin Lui maintains that “Each ear contains a complete reflex map of the body, rich with nerve endings and multiple connectors to the central nervous system.”

She speaks about one unusual way people can boost their health, treat various issues, and experience relief soon. Namely, the technique involves placing clothespins on different areas on the ears.

The ears have 6 spots which are related to different body organs and regions. Therefore, by stimulating these spots, you can solve various health issues.

Here are the details:

1. The Upper Part Of The Ear

This ear part is related to the shoulders and back, so pressing it for a minute daily will reduce the built-up tension in the areas.

2. The Top Of the Ear’s Curve

This point is linked to the organs, and in the case of internal tenderness or discomfort, place a clothespin there to treat it.

3. The Upper-Middle Part of the Ear

It is related to the joints, so when pressed, it soothes the pain and stiffness in joints.

4. The Lower-Middle Part of the Ear

When pinched, this spot will relieve the sinusitis or the sore throat, treat congestion, and help you fall asleep easily.

5. Just Above the Earlobe

It is linked to the digestive system, so its stimulation will soothe stomach pain and boost digestion, and prevent such issues.

6. The Earlobe

This point is linked to the head and heart, so it can help you soothe headaches and migraine, and support heart health.

If you think that clothespin is too strong give this massage a try:

9 Dream Symbols You Should Never Ignore

1. FLYING

Dreams of flying often indicate the need to reach ambition. Where are you going? How are you getting there? Are you having trouble navigating through life? Flying dreams tend to leave us recharged when we wake. There is a feeling of freedom and being able to accomplish anything in our way.

2. WATERFALLS

When we dream of water it usually conveys the emotional state of the mind. Water symbolizes cleansing and purity. To dream of waterfalls is a great omen. This represents new beginnings as the old is washed out.

If you see waterfalls in your dreams, ask yourself these questions: Is the waterfall a small one or a large one? How are you perceiving your obstacles? Is the waterfall in a dark jungle or a beautiful beach?

3. TEETH

Dreams with teeth are very common. Not all teeth dreams symbolize aging. Pulling of teeth symbolizes something that needs to come out, while rotten teeth symbolize the holding of fear and anxiety. Dreaming of falling teeth are the most typical of all teeth dreams. They are usually derived to new situations that cause stress: a new job, fear of loss, lack of power in a relationship, or lies that are being kept hidden. If you see teeth in your dreams, ask yourself these questions: How do you feel about your teeth? We use our teeth to nourish the body. How are we nourishing our lives?

4. DEATH

Dreaming with death is more common than most people admit. As morbid as it feels, to dream of death usually symbolizes the ending of something. Death is the termination of ego parts. There is the death of anxiety and anger. The death of a situation. There is the death of an idea allowing for the birth of another. Dreaming of death or dying can be a psychological aspect of working tremendous changes in emotions.

If you see death in your dreams, ask yourself these questions: Where you the one who died? Was it a loved one? These dreams can also be guidance from a departed loved one trying to give comfort.

5. PREGNANT

Dreaming of being pregnant symbolizes a major growth and development. It can be geared to future projects and desires.

If you visualize pregnancy in your dreams, ask yourself these questions: What are you trying to create? What transformation are you encountering in your waking life? Are you pregnant with possibilities? Pregnant dreams can bring fruitful ideas for a job or relationship.

6. HOUSES

Dreams of houses symbolize the self and the different aspects of personality. Depending on the type of house or the different rooms the interpretation can deepen. Houses are about security and comfort. An attic symbolizes hidden memories, while a basement can mean intuition and the unconscious mind.

If you see houses in your dreams, ask yourself: How are you taking care of your body? How do you perceive yourself out in the world?

7. MONEY

Money dreams can allow us to wake with such gratitude. Dreaming with money is about luck and how we perceive our self-worth. Financial stability or losses are often stress factors in our lives.

8. FIRE

Fire dreams can have several meanings depending on the context of the dream. Seeing fire in a distance symbolizes desire and transformation, while playing with fire can be a warning of risky activities. If you dream of starting a fire it symbolizes anger that is being repressed.

Ask yourself: Do you avoid risky situations? Do you spend your day putting out fires?

9. NAKED

Dreams of being naked are very common. They connect to our fear of being exposed. If the dream is about someone else being naked it signifies “the naked truth” of a situation or foretell an illicit affair. It can also mean the loss of respect. Nakedness is about accepting flaws and imperfections. Just like in waking moments it is about how much is exposed to the world of the self.

If you are naked in a dream, ask yourself: Are you afraid of being seen for who you are? Are you over exposing yourself?

Dreams represent episodes of our lives that can be analyzed in millions of ways, and the dreamer is the only one who can figure out the true emotional state of the dream. These are only a few suggestions into the world of night visions; the mind, body and spirit are intertwined and how we perceive the self plays over and over during our sleep.

The mind will try desperately to dictate, through short visions, how our emotions are being played. Anxiety or joy can change the way we sleep. It’s up to us to truly be aware how we carry ourselves during waking ours.

“Dreams…are invariably seeking to express something that the ego does not know and does not understand.” – Carl Jung
